Headlights

Postby ross_mac » Wed Mar 10, 2010 1:18 am

Hi all,
Was admiring a particularly nice mk1 the other day and have slightly fallen for the circular headlight look as opposed to the rectangular ones currently on my gt2. Does anyone know if there was a mk2 model that had circular headlights, or whether the mk1s will swop to the mk2s?
Thanks for your help.
Ross

the mk1 lights can be fitted to the mk2, but it means modifying the mounting bracket or fabricating a new one. personally i'd go for bmw projector lights

serise 3 BMW ones fit i thionk (ask Boumsong.

alternatively, the Mk2 ford capri ones do as well! ...you need to graft them on to the mk2 rocco back plates thoguh.

it would work, but i reckon you'd be much better off going for the projector version like these:

please note though, they are not a direct fit! you will need to make up the bracketry for them or modify mk1 bracket to fit. probably the best bet is to go have a wander round your local scrappy

Ant aka The Autoad tried this on an early Mk2 some years back - it looked great but come MOT time there were some beam issues that meant he had to revert to standard.

'VW Powered' has a Mk2 in France with round lights too.
always time for a Jamesons.......

I do like the square version, but I've seen a lot of mk1s and think that the round light look has a lot more to be said for it. Each to there own I guess anyway.
I was thinking something that looks like this, with the black bits of grill that go in between the lights...
