Do you mean the wiper stalk on the steering column, or the wiper arm on the outside of the car?

You need to sign in to the site to see the part numbers hence all the why hidden stuff. The numbers you need are these:

171953519B
switch for windshield wipper, wipers and washer and multi function indicatoroperating / F >> 53-E-042 000
/
171953519B 01C
satin black
/
(6) 331953519B
switch for windshield wiper, wipers and washer and multi function indicatoroperation with memory button / F 53-F-000 001>>
/

The difference is that the bottom one is for the MFA, fairly pointless if you car isn't fitted with it

Don't know about new but I know where there is one if this is what you are after.

I may be going here on Sunday so could have a look to see if it is still there.
Pm me with your max limit if you are interested, it's just that I don't want to buy it and find out later I spent too much on it and get left with it.
Not even sure how it all comes apart.

I bought a new one, but that was a few years ago. Think I got mine from the Stealership.

Mac - its just a couple of screws on the front. Unhook all the wiring and it comes apart fairly easily.

Bear in mind that the mk1 + early mk2 Golf + mk1 Cabriolet stalk is exactly the same.

Also, the stalks from an 86-89 mk2 Golf will fit BUT you will need both stalks and will have to modify the plastic cowling slightly as these stalks sit straight rather than at an angle.
